Nine heaven vegan warung, Ubud

Jalan Raya Ubud No.51, Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

This is a new restaurant that opened where ‘Vegan Warung’ used to be. Perhaps because they couldn’t be bothered to change the sign on the door, this restaurant is thankfully also vegan. They serve all the traditional Indonesian staples plus some (quite rare in this neck of the woods) Korean-inspired fares. The kimchi pancake was out of this world — I just dribbled on my keyboard writing this. Crispy, spicy, oily, messy, delicious. The bakso and ramen were also mouthwatering: the bakso balls were surprisingly great for mock meat and the ramen was super spicy. Soups are the things I feel I’m missing out on the most in South East Asia, so whenever there’s a vegan version of something available, I always try that. These ones didn’t disappoint. What did disappoint however was the bibimbap: aside from a meagre portion of kimchi, it was very bland and garnished with a big squirt of something resembling ketchup. Otherwise, the food doesn’t seem to be very consistent: we returned for seconds a few days later and the kimchi pancakes were spongier and less crisp, and the ramen was, while equally tasty, presented quite differently. Certainly there are teething problems in any new restaurant and we still recommend you to give them a try.

Banana leaf vegan Thai fusion, Canggu

Jalan Subak Sari No. 84, Canggu

Banana Leaf Bali Vegan Thai Fusion Restaurant is quite the interesting dining establishment. It’s one of those mock-meateries where most dishes have some sort of “meat” in them, but the entire menu is actually vegan. I’m generally not a huge fan of these processed soy mock-meats, but I have to say I was impressed by theirs. There is also plenty of un-processed food on the menu with a nice mix of thai soups, curries & salads, as well as cold-pressed juices & wheatgrass shots from the frozen yogurt/smoothie shop next door that they have developed a partnership with. They also have a couple vegan desserts, which were delicious.

Deity of miracle vegan resto, Kuta

Jl. Nakula Timur No 18 B, Legian, Badung Regency, Bali

+62 361 2154788

Deity Miracle Vegan Resto is one of the most great vegetarian resto for dining, with open-style building overlooking rice paddies. There were cows grazing in the fields nearby, and you could even sit in your own private room outside if you wanted.

The menus were very much of the chinese vegetarian bent, with lots of fake meat dishes, but also plenty of pure veggie and rice dishes. The staff there didn’t speak as much english as most other places we went, but there was an english menu and the food is all really tasty.

So, just come and taste it!

Warung Sofa, Ubud

Jalan Sugriwa No.36, Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

Bright and airy restaurant with nice modern teak furniture, a great down-to-earth vibe, friendly staff and a fully vegan menu. We went for the much hyped nasicampur, which was excellent. Choose from as many 7,000RP dishes as you wish and have them served around red rice with two types of delicious sambal. We loved the kimchi cabbage rolls and the tempeh manis. The desserts looked yummy.

Tasty vegan, Seminyak

Tasty Vegan is absolutely favourite place to eat in Bali! The food is amazingly delicious and the owners (husband and wife) are lovely. I highly recommend the mango juice, as well as all the food on the menu which is equally yummy.

The tables are in a beautiful, lush traditional Balinese garden with a pond. It’s very peaceful and quiet and we were the only people there when we ate a couple of times. We feel that they run the restaurant for the love of it, not for money. The restaurant is set back from the main road (watch the video on how to find it) and we found it very easily (there is a little sign on the road for it now).

The owners are very honest and have great integrity.

Bali Spirit Kafé, Ubud

Jalan Hanoman No.44B, Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

Busy and bustling with tourists at all time, we were going to give Kafe a miss because it just seemed too noisy for our taste, but then realized that the upstairs area was a nice little oasis of peace from where you can observe the mayhem below. Like several restaurants in Ubud, Kafe serves meat and fish as well as vegetarian, vegan and raw vegan options, which I think is brilliant. We had the steam veggies with tofu and tempeh and the vegan burger which were both nice and fresh, bursting with newly-picked herbs. The raw vegan moringa peppermint ice cream was out of this world

Down To Earth Bali

Since our founding in the year 2002 by renowned nutritionist Liat Solomon, the Down to Earth Company (DTE) has grown from one home-style kitchen to six different restaurants and marketplaces serving gourmet vegetarian foods. Our immensely popular locations sit in some of southern Bali’s busiest and most dense population centers, including Ubud, Seminyak, and Sanur.

In lively and tastefully-designed dining rooms we welcome and cater to everyone from curious tourists to expatriate westerners who call Indonesia home.

Our marketplaces are filled with items that promote healthy lifestyles, many of which are made using natural and sustainable ingredients by environmentally-conscious, local workforces. Available product lines include hand and body soaps, household cleaning products, literature, clothing, cosmetics, jewelery, nutritional supplements, grains, fresh fruits, prepared spices, baked goods such as cookies, and much more. We offer for sale over a thousand different products, each carefully selected for the highest quality.

Our restaurants operate according to strict Western standards of food preparation, handling, and preservation. We serve only the finest vegan and vegetarian meals, drinks, and snacks (with the exception of ethically-sourced cow’s milk, which is available upon request).

Following years of unparalleled success we recently launched Paradiso, a vegan cinema and events-hosting space in Ubud, in Bali’s volcanic lowlands. Central to DTE’s competitive edge is our exclusive right to the importation of organic products into the Republic of Indonesia.
