Warm oil and specific techniques are used to open the chakras or stimulate them so that energy can flow freely through the body, to achieve a sense of profound calm, physical and psychological realignment and balance.
Abhyangam Oil or Ghee
An Ayurvedic foundation massage with customised medicated oils or ghee. This treatment detoxifies, nourishes and revitalizes the body, harmonizing the mind, body, and spirit.
A tropical fruit message with medicated oils. This treatment is effective for skin irritations and enhances and revitalizes skin complexion.
Udwartana (Herbal powder massage)
A mix of medicated powders is massaged deep into the tissue with specific palm and finger movements. This ayurvedic treatment is recommended for weight loss and toning of the skin and muscles. It increases circulation and removes dead skin cells to revitalize you with a glowing complexion.
Marma Energy (Ginger herbal oil massage)
This Ayurvedic treatment focuses on rejuvenating and revitalizing the body’s energy points. It begins with a warm ginger compresses all over the body, followed by a powerful energy balancing massage achieved through gentle and firm circular motions with herbal oils. The treatment ends with a cleansing and relaxing facial mask that uses customisedayurvedic ingredients.
PatraswedaElakizhi (Herb and medicated oil massage)
A bundle of herbal leaves, grated coconut, mustard and rock salt, dipped into warm medicated oil and skilfully massaged over the whole body. This is a highly effective ayurvedic treatment for a variety of ailments including muscular pain, spinal problems, arthritis, sprains, cramps and swelling of the joints.
ShastikaPindaSwedaNjavara (Rice-milk body massage)
A special kind of rice, widely used in Ayurvedic treatments, is prepared and tied in linen bundles and cooked in herbal warm milk. These bundles are massaged all over the body to strengthen and tone the skin, ease tissue and muscles, rheumatism and joint pains.
ChoornaswedaPodikizhi (Herbal powder mix massage)
A massage using linen bundles containing a powder mix of various herbs. The bundles are heated in a pan smeared with castor or neem oil and subsequently applied all over the body to induce sweating. This ayurvedic treatment is beneficial for toning the skin, easing muscle and joint pains.
Pizhichil (Or “royal treatment” herbal oil massage)
Knows as a ‘royal ayurvedic treatment’, lukewarm medicated oil is soaked in a palm-sized linen bundle, squeezed briskly and kneaded all over the whole body. This is then followed by a gentle massage. This treatment is beneficial for fatigue and boosting immunity through renewal of the skin and removal of toxins.
Padaghata (Massage given with feet)
The therapist powerfully and skilfully massages the body using the soles of her feet. This massage is beneficial for joint and bone pain, it helps remove tissue toxins and induces a deep state of relaxation.
UpanahaSweda (Medicated and herbal paste pain relieving massage)
A warm paste comprising of ayurvedic anti-inflationary and pain relieving crushed seeds, mixed with heated herbal leaves and oils together with wheat and rice flour, is gently massaged into swollen or painful parts of the body. The areas are then covered with herbal leaves and subsequently wiped off.
Urovasti (Heart medicated oil massage)
To relieve anxiety, anger or sadness and strengthen the chest area, black gram paste is used to build a well on the chest area. Ayurvedic medicinal oil is then poured in and retained there for 30 minutes, followed by a gentle relaxing full body massage.
Zen Yoga ranges from gentle movements to increase stamina and suppleness to more energetic practices, all of which harmonize the body, mind and spirit connection through breathing, concentration and exercise. Each session is a different experience that expands your body awareness and enhances the feeling of inner peace through gentle and strenuous yoga, silent and guided mediation and pranayama.
Begin every day with with sunrise yoga with our yoga masters. Classes can be tailored to suit individual needs and can be taken privately or as part of a group session, including yoga retreat groups, in our specially designed Avani yoga pavilion surrounded by tropical flora, on the Nirvanam tree tops terrace with rolling views across rice fields, vineyards and on to the alluring Bali Sea or in the Ashram room and library.
