Rumour has it that Cleopatra would sleep in a gold face mask every night to enhance her complexion and and hydrate the skin. In fact, the ancient Egyptians were well aware of the healing properties of gold and the fact that this precious metal is not just beautiful but also beautifying. Gold is said to be able to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, slow collagen depletion, hydrate, stimulate circulation and fight off free radicals. For those looking to get in on a bit of the gold action, Gold Dust Beauty Lounge is now offering a variety of curative treatments using high quality 24-karat gold.
As you step into the bright reception area on the ground floor at Gold Dust Beauty Lounge just steps from the seaside bars and restaurants and crashing surf breaks at BatuBolong Beach in Canggu, you are instantly transported to a cool and calm space with bright white wooden walls, an array of colourful beach kaftans, resort wear, and skin care products, and a smiling host who will help you peruse the spa menu and answer any questions you may have about the treatments. Once you choose your treatment, you are led to the lounge upstairs with its oversized armchairs, sparkling chandeliers, and all the latest magazines.
Not surprisingly, the most popular treatments at Gold Dust Beauty Lounge are the 24K facials and eye masks. What is surprising, however, is how affordable the treatments are considering each one uses either high grade gold leaf or masks with collagen and 24-karat gold. We tried the 24K Gold Leaf Facial, which started with a deep cleansing, followed by the application of thin sheets of gold leaf. While the gold leaf worked its magic tightening and smoothing the skin, the talented therapists gave an excellent head, hand and foot massage. After the gold leaf came off, the results were immediate, as the skin felt softer and looked much more radiant.
On another visit we also sampled the Japanese Cosmo Lifting Facial, which included a purifying cleansing, exfoliation, dynamic neuro sensitive lifting face massage, acupressure, a firming mask, and a head massage. The treatment was deeply relaxing, and the detoxifying elements left us feeling nourished and re-energized. Our therapist explained that this particular facial works to oxygenate the tissues and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. It seemed to be doing the trick, as the skin felt fresher and smoother after the treatment.
Other treatments at Gold Dust Beauty Lounge include healing massages, body buffing, scrubs and wraps, nourishing hair spas, waxing using luxurious Manuka honey and kiwi fruit wax from New Zealand, and manis and pedis with Manx and Shellac products. In addition, the spa also sells skin care products to go, so you can indulge in a bit of glittery goodness from the comfort of your own home. These include face, eye and hand serum, body oil and gold masks, all made with natural high quality products and free of synthetic dyes, parabens, lanolin and PABAs.
